Job Description

Outreach Coordinator

This role reports directly to the Senior Outreach Manager and is responsible for leading outreach, relationship management, and community engagement efforts that strengthen voter participation across New York City. The position supports the NYC Votes initiative by building partnerships, organizing events, maintaining outreach operations, and ensuring accurate data and reporting practices that align with agency standards.

NYC Votes is an initiative of the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB), a nonpartisan, independent agency, that aims to inform New Yorkers about elections and boost their civic participation in the democratic process. Under our NYC Votes initiative, you would implement direct voter engagement efforts in priority neighborhoods and among groups of voters who have historically had lower participation, often due to structural barriers. These efforts can include voter registration drives, community events, partnerships with local organizations and institutions to distribute voting information, door-to-door and site-based canvassing, text banking, and other related activities.

On the Outreach Team, your role will be to thoughtfully plan, design, and execute multi-modal outreach events for all NYC elections, typically rolling out three to six months ahead of each election. The responsibilities and tasks to be completed in this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Relationship Management & Community Engagement - Organize and lead outreach and community events to promote NYC Votes and increase voter participation.
  • Conduct regular outreach activities in priority neighborhoods and communities to strengthen awareness and build relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Education team to identify high-impact partners and assess outreach needs; co-create outreach plans with partner organizations.
  • Organize voter registration drives across the city, coordinating staff, interns, partners, and volunteers.
  • Support the identification of new potential partners aligned with priority communities.
  • Respond to voter inquiries directed to Public Affairs, providing accurate information regarding voting and elections.
  • Program Management / Outreach Operations - Maintain internal tracking of outreach efforts, including event details, audience numbers, voter registrations, collateral distribution, and demographic reach.
  • Work with the Senior Outreach Manager and team members to target efforts in priority communities.
  • Ensure all outreach materials and messaging align with NYC Votes branding and mission.
  • Collaborate with Public Affairs units to develop effective promotional and outreach materials.
  • Support NYC Votes Get-Out-The-Vote efforts through event leadership and volunteer coordination.
  • Recruit volunteers to support GOTV and outreach events.
  • Data Management - Work with the Senior Outreach Manager and relevant agency staff, particularly the Data team, to identify relevant and appropriate metrics, and to build and maintain processes that ensure data tracking and collection meets a consistently high standard for completeness and accuracy.
  • Update and monitor data systems to measure, track, and evaluate the Outreach team's work.
  • Ensure Outreach data and dashboards are up to date and accurate.
  • Establish and maintain regular communication of Outreach team metrics.
